This is a collision of all the best things about my work in 2023. This small cup not only has an accent of Icelandic lava sand, it also was woodfired in Southern NB this Autumn. Subtly showcasing a yellow print of clouds raining crowns and affection from at least 8 years ago.
It's a straight form with mineral deposit drips. It's an actual jewel made from the frayed efforts of one potter's wildly gestalt year.
The inside has a small blush of pink, a truly rare type of woodfiring flashing. I really want this for myself, but I'm so proud of it, I want it to live its own story.
The bare clay areas are covered in warm flashing from the volatile atmosphere of the kiln. Wadding marks in the foot ring are so frigging cute, like kitty toe beans.
