artist statement

I use silkscreening and hand thrown ceramic housewares to document on clay, the omniscience of electrical and communication infrastructure. These practical, earthen forms hold images of the towers that run our digital life.

I have also loved woodfiring since the turn of the millenium and hope to build another kiln next year. The kiln facilities and teaching at the Saint John Arts Centre have kept my practice affordable for over 15 of my 30 years in clay. I hope to honour the responsibility of a ceramist to make works that document what is invisibly everywhere in my culture.
